Hi! I am a mom of 2 young kids (3 and 1) in the neighborhood. We spend a lot of time outside and at the park. I am frustrated with the condition of the park i.e. outdated equipment. I wanted to petition the town to spruce it up. Anyone out there interested or share simialr concerns?

Hi Amy,

We could form a group in our neighborhood and take care of it ourselves. I don't think it would be too much work with enough volunteers. Also, I could arrange for my Cub Scout den of 11 boys to pitch in also.

Let me know what you think.

Hi Scott,

Thanks for your reply. Your idea sounds like a good one! I know another family who would be interested as well.

I phoned the town to ask about our park and any plans to re-model. They gave me the name of a women in our neighborhood (Diane 371-3122) to first discuss our concerns/ideas with. We have been playing phone tag, so I will post another reply when I speak with her.

FYI-I also discussed with the town about  concerns with the park being dirty with liter. I often find beer cans and other drug stuff lying around. I was informed to call the town when this is a problem and they will send some one to clean it up.

Talk soon.

Hey Amy,

Sorry for the late reply as I just got back from vacation.

My neighbor, Diane Foody, is the right person to speak to. She is a wonderful person and will be really helpful.

I know the town is paid to do a better job with cleaning up our park but  I thought it  might be really empowering to not rely on the town but rather have our neighborhood come together to keep it clean. I've been picking up the park for over 12 years now and it really is satisfying knowing I'm helping our neighborhood. If everyone picked up just a little each time they went there it would look really nice and it wouldn't entail much work on anyones part.
