Imagine Academy:
The new charter school, scheduled to open July 30th for 657 students. Located behind Vinings Perimeter Office Park, across from West Village/Fitz Hugh Lee School, accessed from Atlanta Road. This is a temporary location for two years. Concerns are about traffic due to drop off times during morning rush hour. If you have any ideas, pass them on to Tony (riskylaw@bellsouth.net). Oakdale Trailhead Park:
Under construction at Atlanta Rd. and Daniel is scheduled to open July 30th. Park will consist of a playground and bathrooms. Parking will be provided on the other side of Daniel. No lighting in the park makes hours from dawn to dusk. Park will have displays of the history of Oakdale. Daniel Street will become 4-lane. Although John Wieland and the Vinings Bank have contributed to a stop light there, the installation is in question with DOT stating that it would be installed when traffic warrants it. Commissioner Thompson indicated that he would push for the installation sooner rather then later.

Belmont Hills Shopping Center redevelopment. A mixed use development with retail and town homes. Cobb County Board of Commissioners is working on guidelines for this and other TADs (Tax Allocation District). Jonquil Plaza redevelopment (also a TAD). It is 10-12 acres. A Publix will be included as well as some residential (a 5 or 6 story building with ground floor retail). Some past tenants will be relocating there. The Advance Auto Parts will be closing and the used car lot on the corner
