The real averge in PLSD, 47K

Picktown03

You had me there for a while until you used the $100,000 income figure.

In 2003 the PLSD treasurer presented some information on average household income in the district and I seem to remember it was around $47,000 per year and falling.

That is what make this argument so hard to deliver.

A family that has a $100,000 income will more than likely be living in a home over the $250,000 range. Those making say $45,000 will be living in a home in the $120,000 range.
you got me and my wallet

I roughly fit the 100K/ 250K (valuation) description Property taxes are rougly 3500 plus per year and SDIT is 1000 plus so you are getting 4500 plus from me and looking for about roughly 300 per year more.

The SDIT hit high income people harder, and may be more fair to retirees, but the fact is, you are still spiraling the property tax every two to three years or so. It is making the community unafforable to live in for some.

We have so much property tax money tied up in bonds, so we squeeze the program end of the education....it ain't no Bexley.

Not too far off

My $100,000 number was arbitrary but not too far off. According to the US Census web site the median family income for zip code 43147 in 1999 was $81,672. There is no more current data available. I did not find an average income figure on the site but did see that 18% have incomes under $50M.

Using the 1999 income in place of the $100,000, the 1.74% for PLSD drops 0.10% to 1.64%.
