A blip here and a blip there and then a Million here and then a Million there soon we are talking about some real money.
I am a little offended at TigerPanther's comments about growth. He is beginning to sound like our friend Randy Hughes and his raise the Draw Bridge comments.
Please take the time to read the Pickerington This Week that we receive yesterday. They indicate that the City is considering imposing $3,470 impact fee per each new home. As I understand these fees they can only be used on capital projects and they must benefit the new homes.
For you guys that think all of this growth is great we find an official study by the City shows that only a portion of those costs are in the range of $3,470 per new home. Actually the $3,470 is just a small portion of the cost to the entire community. This study didn't include the schools or the fire department. It also didn't include any operating costs in the first year or so before the real taxes actually get to the city.
Randy Hughes always seemed to think people wanted to stop growth. Actually a little growth is good. If this growth had been slowed down to a more manageable rate like five years ago then we would not be facing yet another blip in a May 3rd school levy. Folks these blips do add up very quickly when left unattended.
