Do you need a moratorium yet?

Posted in: PATA
I just received an E-mail saying the Rita ''two lots per acre'' Ricketts is now asking or at least her agent Dominion Homes is asking to get a 149 acres across from the North High School zoned for 3.22 lots per acre.

I now see why Rita and Lee Gray were such good friends long ago. She makes Parker a prophet and Randy Hughes a Genius.

They feel we built a new high school that we wanted it filled up in record time to raise our taxes even more. THey are giving us a 24 acre peice of ground in exchange for 200 new homes.

I think the people in this district are well aware of the math here and that is a loser in the first month of school. I hope you folks in the townsip that thought you were controlling growth take a good look at this. Then look at Spring Creek who owned that property prior to Dominion? Seems to be a pattern forming here.

I am sure there was good reason that the Ricketts had that big Harry Meyers sign in there yard in 2001. Now we know.

People you thought you could trust.

IT'S TIME FOR HOME RULE

This appears to be yet another bait and switch operation of the builders. They come into our school district and purchase an option from the local farmer. The farmer may ask for and try to restrict the housing density but once the builder applies to the trustees for a change in zoning the application has been altered to quarter acre lots. Then the township must then fight with only the tool in their arsenal and that is the people that live here.

It is well documented on this web site of the Roshon property and their efforts to referendum that zoning change between the Roshons and Monebrake the developer.

Then with over whelming support NOT to rezone the Roshon property from the community the ELECTED county prosecutor rules in favor of the DEVELOPER. BY the time we get this prosecutor UNELECTED we are dealing with hundreds of new homes in our school district.

Folks this is becoming accumulative: 481 new homes on the Ricketts property, and then there is the 109 acres just down the road that is asking for over 200 more homes and then what ever the Roshon property will yield. The Township just can't depend on public support and they can't depend on a county prosecutor to defend them.

It is time this township smell the coffee and adopt Limited Home Rule. You may think it will cost too much but it will cost you all even more just to stand by and do nothing.

It is time someone in the township stand up and do something anything!!!! Obviously their are limitations with Home Rule. It is a new law (12 years old) but it hasn't been tested. It is time to adopt it and test it. WE NEED TO NOW CONTROL OUR OWN DESTINY.

Merge

Merge with the city and work together to solve these problems. As long as you have the ineffecive government you have in the twp, you'll just get more and more of this.
Don't think so......

I would have to see far better services and support from the city before I would ever consider a merger. The township is light years ahead of the city for clearing snow, etc.

The income tax I would pay to the city would just be wasted in my opinion. Gone and never seen again. (Just like my SS taxes....)
