We aren't alone

How can you trust someone who made absolute sure that the 30,000 cars per day on Diley that is being quoted to you came to fruition? How can he look you in the eye after predetermining that Diley MUST be widened to 5 lanes and then tell you he will vote against it? How can you be angry at a Mayor that made one piss poor quote about oxes and not hang the enemy among you in effigy?

I understand you are angry and you have a right to be. I also understand that there is nothing you can do to change it. The road will be widened to 5 lanes. It can not be. Widening to three lanes accomplishes nothing. Leaving it at two is an irresponsible act on the majority of council. You elected them to act responsibly after the sometimes criminal acts by the former administration. Be angry! Be as angry as you want, just be angry at the right people for the right reasons.

I know as well as you do that you cannot change the past. I also know as well as you that this widening has been planned for years, yet just now you come forward and want it stopped. If you weren?’t told by your realtors that this was coming, go after them and have them make it right with you. If you have lived on Diley during the whole process of annexation and rezoning and SR 33 interchanges and are just now speaking up, your voices won?’t carry far. It was your responsibility to have paid more attention in the past and act when you could have.

Sheesh ?– didn?’t anybody read any of those PATA newsletters??? I know I personally hung them on your mailboxes more than once.

Existing roads are usually first

I've been here for close to 20 years now. It didn't take a brain surgeon to look around and know Diley, Hill, Lockville, Refugee, Long, Stemen, Pickerington and a few others were going to become the feeder roads as the area grew. They are the equivalent of McCoy, Zollinger, Northwest Blvd, Lane, Tremont, etc. in Arlington.

If you moved into a subdivision right off any of those roads you should have planned on the eventual widening and subsequent traffic. It's going to happen whether or not the near by residents want it. I put it in the same category as those who want to complain about the jet noise from the ANG tankers (sound of freedom, remember that folks) that were here far before virtually all of us moved in.

The hardest thing is not going to be the five lanes. It will be keeping Diley to a residential feeder road only and preventing the cheap commerical stuff from sneaking in.
