School Safety

Strange policies

I am aware of Mr. Smith being at Central I didn't speak with him there.

I guess my concern is further heightened by recent evens in Central Ohio. In Madison County the Madison Plains High School had a Nationally televised incident where a 17 year old beat the hell out of a 14 year old on the school bus in front of the High School.

The 14 year old had a concussion and he has a broken eye socket bone. Clearly he would have had vision problems at first glance. What is even more incredible is that the school called the parent of the 14 year old and she came to the school and took her son to the hospital. After over 2 hours of time that had past she then went to the Madison County sheriff's office to report the fight. This was the first that their office heard of the incident. Now the deputy has to trace down the bus and try to build a case against this young criminal. Clearly the boy has problems and needs to spend some time in the cooler to cool down. The other students need protection from him as well.

When the media asked the Madison Plains School Superintendent about the incident he says he stands behind the proper response that his bus driver and High School principal did regarding the fight. He even went into great detail about the driver parking the bus calling the principal, turning off the bus and removing the keys, then he broke up the fight between the two boys after the bigger one had landed 30 some punches.

I think our school officials need a common sense boot camp to drum some sense into their empty heads. No wonder we have parents not wanting their kindergarten kids attending school with teenagers.

This School didn't give a darn about this 14 year old only that their policy was followed. It seems that once the Principal seen the results of this fight he should have called 911. I just wonder if he couldn't remember the number.

Now to top that my nephew goes to Gahanna Middle school and he get $2 per day and he is in an incentive program with 27 other young middle schoolers. Do the math it is nearly $10,000 for getting good grades. I wonder if we should bring that to Pickerington?
