How about
How about charging the appropriate amount for each sport? If golf costs $800, charge $800. If cross country costs $150, charge $150. Why should participants in less costly sports subsidize the more expensive sports? If my kid takes a science class that has extra fees due to the equipment and chemicals used, I pay for that, not the parent whose kid is taking freshman english.
How about keeping North's athletic booster money at North, Central's at Central? If Violet elementary PTO has a large bank balance, they aren't shipping it to Heretige or Tussing are they? What's the difference?

Move Forward...
I will have to disagree that North got ''all the good coaches'' - if music is put into the equation of the 70 seniors that were in the Music program 67 chose to stay at Central.
That does not mean that North has a ''bad'' music program, but it has to grow and get established. The same could be said of the Girls Basketball program at Central. People are comfortable with knowns & that's what they gravitate toward. We need to support both schools as they develop into their own.
Central will never be North, I don't think that is a travesty - you can have the most beautiful building in the world and if what occurs inside the building isn't any good - it doesn't matter if it's a palace or a pole barn. I also think that there is a lot of wonderful tradition at Central - I don't believe new is always better and I'm not sure I'd rather move to a ''new'' stadium rather than renovate the beautiful one we have - there are a lot of wonderful memories and traditions at the stadium at Ridgeview - maybe we just need a face lift.

Seems to me
It seems to me another school seemed to think renovating a stadium steeped with tradition was just fine rather than starting over.

It is time to change
I see we have the same people within this school district that post on this site and they think some kind of magic is going to rescue us all from the fact that the school district is broke. We can?’t afford two full sport programs no matter how you look at it. Even though the new people are good thinkers not even they can correct the problems in a very near future.
For the person that talked about memories. What memories yours or your kids? Clearly you are living through your child. If that child doesn?’t want the same memories and isn?’t interested in sports I guess you kind of require them to be athletes?
There is no reason that if a Student is college material that they can?’t go to Central and play for a North team. If you people think our school system is producing these great academics then you should think again. I am calling for a concentrated effort to raise the academic standards of our High School system. If we chose to try to operate two schools and also try to accomplish excellent at both schools we will never have enough money and then both schools fail. Clearly we are all in this together and to keep things the way they were isn?’t solving the problem but causing more problems. We don?’t have enough students that either want or can achieve the high academic standards that I am talking about.
For the guy that said if golf requires $800 per year to play then that student should be required to pay that amount. Clearly Mr. Jock hasn?’t thought out his response. The $1.2 million in costs is only the cost for supplemental contracts not the TOTAL cost of any sport. Once you figure in the maintenance on the athletic fields and lights you will need to raise the total cost of any sports activity considerably. So that $150 for football will be much more than you think. The second issue is that the more affluent children will be the only ones playing any sports or other activities. Is that what we are all about just a school to give the rich kids an opportunity? First it is illegal and second that would screw the other taxpayers, paying for these activities while the academics suffer.
If you don?’t like my ideas then come up with something that will work and so far your ideas are none existent.
