Is the growth in our schools about to shift from the city office holders out to the township office holders? It seems the township is about to start allowing their version of uncontrolled growth. I recently had privy to plans for some additional growth out in the township. Has the lime light been on the city and our township has come in under the radar on the growth issue?
Terry Dunlap still thinks that the taxpayers make money from building houses. Apparently Mr. Dunlap can't back up any of those theories up with actual studies. Both Mr. Dunlap and Mr. Meyers were endorsed by the Pickerington Area Republican Club whose current President is Craig Maxey. The county is adding a 1 million gallon per day increase to the county sewer plant on Tussing road. That equates to 3000 more homes.
Both of these Trustees oppose any kind of moratorium or the Home Rule Township idea even though there have been findings that they can control residential growth. Both seem to reject the ideas without any additional investigation. Granted the Home Rule Law for township is relatively new it will give much more power to the townships in the future in their ability to control growth.
In addition I have heard that the City's largest home builder that is currently suing the City will move their operations out into the township once they have crippled the City. They appear to be over confident in there demand that we provide them with everything they need to make money on our schools, on our roads and on our safety services. I understand that they will not come to the table for any kind of negotiated settlement with the city. While the attention is on the builders and the city they will quietly move their operation out into the township with high density building and continue their destructive path through our school system.
My point here folks is that next year Terry Dunlap and Harry Meyers are up for re-election. Unless they develop and execute and a growth management plan that will control our residential growth I would not vote for their re-election. They have taken advantage of their brothers in Pickerington going down the drain and they have not had much scrutiny over the last couple of years. Well folks maybe their time has come.
