The Township Snobs

Posted in: PATA
It is now pretty clear that the folks who shut down Pickerington building never had any intention of doing the same to the Township. It was all about making the area safe for the Republa-snobs who live in the Township versus the average folks in the City. Very curious when you use left wing social policy (land confiscation) to effect right wing exclsuionary ends.
Nice Try

Nice try, but you are wrong. There is pressure for the Township to become Home Rule, but for a different reason.

The Township is 3x's the size of the city and built 173 homes last year. This year there have been 40 building permits issued. They have walked to walk of reasonable growth and that's all we wanted the City to do as well.

The reason for a moratorium in the township at this point would be a committment from the township to maintain current practices and not lose their heads issuing building permits. These guys do have less controls than the City does, but isn't it funny how they have been able to manage their growth.

The City has developments springing up like dandelions and by the way - doesn't the city have 5 building inspectors? Are they ever going to get out of a car and inforce any codes? Or are we happy with their greenspace of weed fields and ruined roads from their trucks filled with progress?

Dear Township Snob

It is unfortunate that you comfort yourself and others in the township into thinking that you guys have residential growth under control.

First the revolt and revolution in Pickerington in November of 2003 was not all promoted by the township residents. It was a combined effort by both city and township residents.

So lets talk about numbers:

In the 2000 census Violet Township had 16893 residents. S if they are building 173 homes per year then that works out to be over a 3% rate of residential growth. Pickerington had growth of a little over 4% during the 90s. If you think you have the growth in the township under control think again.

I see Spring Creek subdivision putting up units faster than the normal pace and that is the same company that buried the city in new homes. Granted the higher priced homes do sell slower but it is also driving down the property values of all of our homes because new homes buyers always have a new home to buy and they get to pick the carpet color.

As for Bob Harding leaving he took a bath on his house when he sold it. It is public record. Check it put before running your month.
Spring Creek

I agree that Spring Creek is shooting up like the dandelions referred to by ''Township Snob'', but the fact of the matter is that 40 building permits have been issued. If you're uncertain of that fact attend the next Township meeting and ask.

Maybe that means most of those 40 permits were held by Dominion and used in Spring Creek.

You can also ask where the 173 permits last year were issued - my guess would be Winding Creek gets the lion's share and Spring Creek came in second.

Is this good? Probably not for the schools, but 3% is better than anything the city has done in the last couple of years. We need to manage growth in both places or the schools are going to be history and everyone can kiss the value of their homes good-bye!!

We could even ask Mr. Monebrake to pitch in and help to slow down growth that is occuring in our school district in Liberty Township - but that would mean he might really give a d___ about the school system. If you look what he did on the road he lives on (for now) you know he can't give a rats ass.
