Flawed logic - 2 homes per acre

Urban Sprawl

I agree with you but for different reasons. Limiting density contributes to sprawl, which increases costs for everyone. Most people in this area work elsewhere, be it Columbus or the surrounding area. How is your commute to work? How is the air quality in central Ohio? Are your kids able to walk to their friends' homes, or do you have to drive them? For that matter - how's your waistline? Sprawl contributes to the increased need for your automobile, the increased need for more trips to the fuel pump, the increased need for fast food take-out due to less time to cook, and less time spent with family and friends.

There are other ways to manage growth, and other communities are doing so effectively. Look at Solon, Ohio and Hudson, Ohio.

Increasing commercial development would also effectively limit the number of students that are enrolled in the school district, but everytime a company wants to move into the area, citizens form a group to stop it.

While not saying so, most of the rationale for managing growth boils down to, ''I got mine, now you go away!''
