Although a township resident, I want to join in congratulating the Pickerington City Council for selecting Mitch O'Brien to fill the vacant seat on council. Mitch has had as much to do with turning this community around as anyone. We will all benefit from his continued service.
I know Mitch to be honest, good-hearted, humble and deeply committed to the good of this community. I also know him to be principled, willing to stand up for what is right, and capable of real eloquence when the occasion arises. He is a leader of the best sort.
I hope that, with the able leadership of our new city government, the city can begin working hand-in-glove with the township, the school board and the citizens of this community to articulate a clear and comprehensive vision of this community's future -- a vision to which all of us can contribute, and in which all of us can share. Hopefully, the mutual trust that is built from that project can then inspire the unification of this community under a single government.
