Playground tactics took over the county GOP

To the Editor:
I am a Central Committee representative from Pickerington and also the vice president of the Republican Club of Northwest Fairfield County.
In these roles I have seen both the good side and the bad side of the Republican Party in Fairfield County.
As vice president and a founding member of the Northwest club, I have seen the very people disenfranchised by another Pickerington area club and by those that the other club supported in local politics all band together and pull off one of the most remarkable coups in Fairfield County politics in recent memory.
This group has changed the face of our elected representation in our corner of the county for years to come.
As a Central Committee representative, I also got to see the dark side just two short years ago.
I got to see people that were soundly defeated in their precinct elections rise to the power in the party through the use of age-old elementary school playground tactics:
If you don't like the way the game is going, rewrite new rules as you go.
If you think chairpeople might be fair and impartial, bully and intimidate them into seeing things your way.
If you remotely suspect that a vote count might not go in your favor, have your friends supervise the vote count behind closed doors.
And lastly, after you have completed your hostile annexation of a county party like you have completed many hostile annexations in other elected positions, cannot field a viable candidate, cannot win an election and cannot explain your way out of any of it, resort to what all playground bullies do, start calling everyone names. Call them liars. Call them sore losers.
To the voters of Fairfield County -- the people that once held ethics, dignity and honor first and foremost for our county party have a cure for what is ailing the leadership of the party.
Support the CURE-endorsed candidates on March 2.
