''Pickerington schools to spend rainy day funds'' from The 12/15/03 Southeast Messenger tells how the Pickerington Board of Education pro-growth majority (for now)voted to spend $2.6 million on improvements at PHS Central and Pickerington Ridgeview Junior High. Board members Gail Oakes and Dr. Bruce Rigelman (slow-growth minority) opposed the measure, claiming it will force the next Board to ask the voters for an operating levy a year early.
Is the pro-growth majority trying to hamstring the in-coming slow-growth majority?
In a separate article, ''Bushman resigns'', we learned that Joyce Bushman will be given $50,795 in severance pay and buyouts. This PATA volunteer believes it's cheaper than keeping her! Representative members from the Pickerington area will make up the search committee for her replacement.
