Last night the Pickerington City Council held one more ''SPECIAL MEETING'' to pass an ordinance to buy the bus repair depot. The citizens are in for another ''trip to the cleaners.'' We have already spent $600,000 to build a road across PRIVATE property and now this same council wants to make the project even more valuable to the developer by completing the road only to Center Street. This all at tax payers expense. Now if we do finally get some commercial development there most (75%) of the increased tax dollars will go back to the city to pay this debt off.
I also understand that the referendum (Ordinance 2003-89 amended)that was circulated around town to stopped the Manager from signing the loan application for the Ohio EPA was rejected because this was not the first ordinance dealing with this sewer expansion. Clearly the builders are taking one last shot at the citizens of Pickerington. It is ashamed that this document is not on this web site.
Clearly the press is disinterested in what the citizens of Pickerington want. The Times-Sun sent in their new reporter Tony Dill and he arrived after the special council meeting had adjourned last night. He now will get his story from what ever the PIO tells him.
We must do better in the future.
Tonight we leave this year with no regrets. We enter a new year with a new city government. I hope this new government corrects the issues so many of us are concerned with and that they are far more responsive that what is leaving. I hope in the coming year that issues and public record are open to the citizens. That council is available to talk with and that we spend money that benifits the entire community not just some of the cronies of the city government.
