  • Parks and Planning – Update from Michael Bouchard

The following message was received from Michael Bouchard regarding the continued planning of the Platte River improvements at Grant Frontier and Pasquinel’s Landing:

Attention everyone!!  Trying to head off any panic with this FYI:

We have tagged an additional 60-70 trees along the Overland corridor with metal tags accompanied by pink tape (see photo).  The tape was necessary to distinguish these trees from the first round that was surveyed several months ago.

These tags DO NOT MEAN these trees are being taken down.  They are simply marking trees that we need additional survey information so that WE CAN SAVE AS MANY AS POSSIBLE!!

Please pass this information along to anyone who you think may be concerned.

  • Chris Nevitt’s office update (Valerie Kerns)

This Saturday, July 27, there will be a picnic on Ruby Hill sponsored by Godsman neighborhood and Parks and Rec.  There will be information regarding the Ruby Hill Phase 2 project presented at this event.  Picnic starts at 6pm.

Sandy also mentioned on this Saturday is the Shabbat Community Party from 11am-4pm at 2320 S. Bannock St.

Illegal dumping has been reported happening in the alley in Grant Frontier Park.  If you are witness to this or have any information regarding this problem please

  1. Take pictures of any offenders and/or vehicle and license plate
  2. Contact 311 and report the incident
  3. Report the incident to District 3 Police

Construction of the Evans Bridge continues and is still on track to be completed in September.

  • Denver County Fair

OPNA will have a booth at the Denver County Fair being held on August 9,10 and 11.

This is a great way to promote our unique and evolving neighborhood with emphasis on the work being planned for the river improvements.

We are looking for volunteers to help with set-up and to be in the booth to greet all the Fair goers.  The plan is to schedule 2-3 hour time slots.

Please contact VP Ronnie Crawford at falconcentral@gmail.com for more details on how to sign up for assisting with setup and in the booth.

  • New Business

There seems to be an increase in ‘tagging’ which has been happening throughout the neighborhood.  Everyone is encouraged to keep a watch out for offenders and report any suspicious activities by taking the following steps:

  1. Notify your neighbors to keep an eye out for any suspicious activities
  2. Take pictures
  3. Contact 311 or (720) 913-1311 to report the incident
  4. Attend the Police District 3 meeting which occurs the 1st Thursday of each month at 1625 S. University Blvd to report any incidents in person.

Meeting adjourned at 7:55 pm.

Next neighborhood meeting will be on Thursday, August 22, 6:30 pm at Grant Frontier Park.  Bring your chairs and drinks and sit and enjoy our beautiful park and find out what is happening in our neighborhood.
