Minutes of 9/25/08 Meeting

Call to Order (CTO) by President Catherine Sandy at John Collins Church, 2320 S. Bannock.

Present: James Sample, Ray Ehrenstein, Michelle Roof, Belin Fieldson, Erick Martinez, Ben Gordon, Marlane Brewer, Ellie Roos, Paul Essrig, Jennifer Redes, Charley Samson, Catherine Sandy.

Minutes of our last meeting were read and approved.

Treasurer Michelle Roof's report of a current balance of $1307.31 was approved.

The October ONA meeting will be our last of the year, a pot luck starting at 6:00pm.

Sandy mentioned the need for poll workers for the election and some changes in ownership on Broadway: El Ranchito is now Broadway Cafe and Old Time Draughts and Dogs is now Jay's on Broadway.

Eric Martinez, from the ARC store on Broadway, said they've received 2 citations from the City, for insufficient parking and for the storage bins outside the store. They are seeking a variance from the first and sought our support for the second. Letters of individual support were circulated and signed. Their neighbor spoke against ARC's proceedures, as attracting trash and the homeless.

Ben Gordon spoke in favor of Referred Issue 3-A on the ballot. It would entail $454 million for DPS. 80% of that figure would go toward maintenance; the other 20% to new technology.

Jennifer Redes from Councilman Nevitt's office said he is chair of the Greenprint Committee. His defense of the Eco-Pass program was lauded. Redes noted that permeable asphalt is being tested by Public Works.
