Overland Park

Minutes of January 25, 2007 Meeting (Revised)

Feb 24, 2007

Overland Neighborhood Association (ONA)
Minutes of 1/25/07 Meeting

Call to Order (CTO) by President Sandy at 6:35pm at John Collins Church, 2320 S. Bannock.

Present: See sign-up sheet.

We were greeted at the door by the lovely Jennifer Pollock passing out brochures ?“Denver Digs Trees.?” She spoke more on the subject later in the meeting. Lois Strohmeyer presented the treasury report showing a balance of $1,175.85. Catherine reminded everyone that it is the first of the year and all of our dues are needed. Then the eloquent Jack Unruh spoke in great detail about creating a new chair titled "Development Chair." This will be a co-chair with Kevin Dickson. You can read more about this in the latest copy of "Overland Express". A vote was taken on this and it was passed overwhelmingly. Now Jack has something to do.

Then it was Ronnie Crawford's turn to tell us about the problem he is having with the junk car place in the next block. He is seeking a variance to allow him to keep his 7 Ford Falcons without having to put any in storage, as most are kept on the sides of his property and not offending any of the neighbors. He read a very supportive letter from Mimi Bell, his next door neighbor on the South. ONA voted to send a letter to the city council from all of us and urged we all send individual letters to the council or Mayor Hickenlooper.

Discussion then went to having an open forum meeting with the 4 candidates running for city council. More to come on that later. Jennifer Willoughby passed out copies of ?“The Overland Express". Matt Riley said that Jeff Shoemaker brought to our attention that the pedestrian bridge over Santa Fe at Iliff was on the short list and again we were advised to write to the city council or Mayor Hickenlooper in support of this project.

Julie Connor took questions from Jack Unruh and Kevin Dickson. Also, one of the members thought it a problem using 311 for graffiti problems. Julie said to use the graffiti hot line for that particular problem but continue with 311 for all other problems. The meeting was adjourned at 7:35 p.m.

(Minutes taken by Jim Sample, edited by Charley Samson, music by Spike Jones, additional dialogue by Karl Marx, with generous support from the Center for Druidical Studies.)
