Minutes of 5/24/07 Meeting

Call to Order (CTO) by President Catherine Sandy at 6:38pm at John Collins Church, 2320 S. Bannock.

Present: See sign-up sheet.

Minutes of last month?’s meeting was approved.

Treasurer Lois Strohmeyer?’s report showing a balance of $1,119.60 was approved.

The neighborhoods?’ victory over Excel Energy?’s application for a view plane variance before the Planning Commission was hailed, as was Jennifer Pollock?’s tireless work on the ONA garage sale. A possible fall garage sale was discussed.

President Sandy called for volunteers to work on ONA Folk Hero Deb Sanchez?’s garden. She noted the Habitat for Humanity letter regarding 70 Rio Grande Blvd. and liquor license applications by Bistro One, 1294 W. Broadway, and Club X (alias The Paper Tiger) at 1196 S. Santa Fe Dr.

Our neighborhood inspector?’s name is Denise, who is investigating complaints at 2286 S. Accoma, 2630 S. Bannock, 2340 S. Acoma and 2290 S. Bannock.

Director of Deep Thoughts Jack Unruh mentioned the NEPA (National Environmental Policy Act) for transportation projects, especially the Gates Cherokee development and the Evans Light Rail Station. He said that when Santa Fe was widened, Overland lost a third of its population and 400 businesses.

Kevin mentioned the need for bodies at the 5 meetings in June of the city?’s Transportation Infrastructure Task Force, and the mayor?’s Neighborhood Conference on June 9 from 8:30am to 2:30pm at West High School.

ONA Watch proceeds apace. Rebecca (303-733-3786) would welcome volunteers in her lonely clerical quest. Westside Quadrant Folk regard the Operation ID blue cards as an impediment.

Ronnie said Rep. Diana DeGette is hosting a town hall meeting at the Mercury Caf?©, 21st & California, on June 9th at 10:00am.

After adjournment at 7:30pm, Kevin Dickson spoke to interested parties about proposed S. Delaware development, across from the Light Rail station.
