Located just west of North Tampa, Carrollwood was named after Lake Carroll and the surrounding groves. There are many small lakes in the area.
Major roadways in the area include North Dale Mabry Highway and Gunn Highway (Busch Boulevard).
Development began in the area in 1957 and has grown steadily since. The community is known for its above average schools, resident involvement and fashionable housing developments.
