Olde Sawmill Civic Association

Thanks for your support in 2000

By ROB WAYNE
President, OSCA

On behalf of the OSCA Board members, I want to thank each resident who became a member of the Association this year. OSCA was successful in achieving its three primary goals set forth in March?— 1) improve communication, 2) address neighborhood aesthetics and 3) increase participation in the association. Our success was possible because of your support.
Specifically, communication was improved through the direct-mail newsletter?—the SCAN?—which we feel helped us reach more residents. We believe neighborhood aesthetics are important so we contracted with a professional landscape firm to maintain our numerous entryways into Olde Sawmill. A recent September article in the Dispatch outlined how landscaped entryways enhance neighborhoods. One resident pointed out that the reason she was initially attracted to her neighborhood was the attractively landscaped entryway. A builder summed it up best about the role of entryways:

?“It creates a sense of transition for people when they?’re finished with their day, they?’re entering their domain. It?’s critical for folks.?”

If we attract buyers to Olde Sawmill because it?’s a pleasant domain for us, we?’ll benefit if or when the time comes to sell.
My personal thanks to all who contributed to OSCA this year and best wishes for a happy Holiday season.
