Oakwood Gardens is a quiet neighborhood nestled in the northern portion of St. Petersburg. With low crime rates as well as our recently acquired traffic calming devises; many of our residents enjoy evening walks where they can get out and meet their neighbors. Conveniently located to many schools: Northeast High School, Meadowlawn Middle School, Woodlawn Elementary, St. Petersburg High School, Campbell Park Elementary, John Hopkins Middle School and Melrose Elementary are just a few of the nearby schools; it is easy to see Oakwood Gardens is highly desirable. With easy access to the interstate, many of the pleasures of St. Petersburg as well as Tampa and other Florida Destinations; are only minutes away. The nearby City of St. Petersburg maintained Kiwanis Park has a full playground, basketball courts, a softball diamond, covered shelters (with grills) and plenty of grass space for all to enjoy. Oakwood Gardens was awarded the “Up and Coming Neighborhood of the Year” award in October of 2004. Oakwood Gardens is committed to improving the quality of life within our neighborhood and has been working hard with the City of St. Petersburg to achieve this goal.

Recently Oakwood Gardens was reward a $100,000 grant towards signage and beautification. We have receive new street signs and post as well as two larger signs on the corners of 16th St N and 38th Ave N, and the corner of 30th Ave N and the interstate. The City is also placing quite a few flowering trees along some of the streets and avenues as part of the landscaping. Sidewalks have been repaired and are in the process of being added down 16th St N between 38th Ave N and 30th Ave N. Look for the signed median to be installed soon at 16th St N and 34th Ave N. It will be similar to the median across the way at 16th St N and 34th Ave N but will also have a smaller version of the type of sign at that is at 38th Ave N and 16th St N.

As a neighborhood, I believe our goal is to raise the quality of life with in our neighborhood. To keep the streets safe for our residents, to keep the neighborhood clean and respectable as well as to address the concerns of our residents. As neighborhood I believe we can make our neighborhood a safe and desirable location to live. I welcome your involvement, for only as a neighborhood can we make this happen.

8th Annual Neighborhood Partnership Award

Oakwood Gardens Neighborhood Association was presented the "UP AND COMING NEIGHBORHOOD" award on October 26, 2004 by Mayor Rick Baker.
Thank you to all our neighbors who were involved in making this happen and congratulations.

Oakwood Gardens Neighborhood Association Meeting

Neighborhood Association meeting held every last Thursday of the month at Norwood Baptist Church 1818 29th Ave N. at 7pm.
