I was curious if and when we would know the results or decision made at the recent meeting regarding our neighborhood crime watch. I was unable to attend.

I will type up a paper giving a brief summary of what is involved with crime watch, what will be the responsibilities of the Crime watch Block Captains, the people in their section, and the Coordinator. I will go door to door and leave this paper, and talk briefly to those who are interested in helping out with being a Block Captain. It doesn't involve a lot of time. When we get the Captains together, we can have a meeting with a Sheriff that teaches crime watch system and how it works. Then the Captains with give brief instructions to the people in their sections. The paper on Crime watch has to be approved by the HOA Cindy before it can be passed out to the neighborhood.
People can also learn about Crime Watch System by reading on our neighborhood web site -click on the lower left corner in the police area, and look for crime watch. If interested, send a message to this web site your name and number. If we can get maybe 10 Captains, then we could organize a Crime Watch. Most robberies take place in broad daylight with neighbors watching, only people don't report what they see-they just assume that the people hauling things out of the house are repairmen or movers, or that maybe they live there-what's scarier, is that thieves realize this, so they aren't intimidated by being seen.

The result is...

Only one concerned resident attended Octobers meeting. K.Hoff explained how the system would work and asked if board members would take a lead role. This is where I had to explain to her that we need the community on this one. Our responsibilities have stretched us thin, so K. Hoff is going to try to recruit more residents and write a proposal for the board to endorse/finance.
