Oak Park Community Council

Chollas Lake will be closed from November 30th until December 11th.

Chollas Lake was originally built as a reservoir in 1901 to help serve the water needs of San Diego.  In 1966 it was given to the Park and Recreation Department and was designated a youth fishing lake.  Children 15 and younger fish for free on the 16 acre lake.  On Sunday’s from 10am – 2pm there is a fishing clinic teaching children the wonders of fishing. The dirt path around the lake is used for walking, jogging and bicycling.  There are picnic tables with barbecue grills, play equipment for the children, a small basketball court, hiking trails and a multi purpose ball field for all to enjoy.

Our local jewel has a full time director now. After years of budget cuts and restrictions that have hampered the entire city, Ramon Casas has been appointed to look out for our precious park.
We are excited about this development and look forward to working with him. Look for more timely info in the Oak Park News now that there is a full time representative on board. Welcome Ramon!

On the third Saturday of the month from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon participate in Guitar Riffs at the Lake. Bring your electric or acustic guitar and have a little jam secession.
