Theft In Northminster

Posted in: Northminster

Sometime on the night of August 9th/early morning of the 10th, our van was broken into.  My husband had left it unlocked after we got home from the YMCA.  We had our hands full and he intended to run back out and grab his laptop in his backpack.  We both forgot about it.  (We have three young girls).  The next morning, around 5 am, my husband went out to the van and saw that the glovebox was hanging open.  His backpack was nowhere to be found.  We filed a police report and they weren't able to pick up any prints.  It was a black Axio backpack with red lining.  Inside it had my husband's work laptop (Dell Precision M4400), a book he had been reading (The Sword of Shannara Trilogy without it's cover), his work badge attached to a Red Bull air race lanyard, two Rosaries that his late father got for him from the Vatican, some cash (about $98), and some various papers.  Unfortunately, we never heard anything and our van was parked right underneath our bedroom window.  It's very dark at our house (4 Pixie Rd) and we plan on installing motion sensor lighting outside.  If anyone has seen anything suspicious, please contact the police.  The police told us that 90% of the time, people don't report thefts because they think the items aren't worth the hassle.
