2 Teenagers Arrested

Posted in: Westgate Taku

On the morning (12:30am) of June 8th, we were out rollerblading with the dog.  We came around the corner and noticed two teenage boys (13-15 years old) checking vehicles to see if they were unlocked.  I called the police and then kept an eye on them while keeping a distance. The kids were not just checking vehicles on the street, but also going into driveways looking for unlocked vehicles.  When the police showed up on scene, the kids were just coming out from a drive, saw the police and ran into the back yards of the houses on Riverview and Woodway.

After the kids ran, the police came around the corner to Woodway looking for the kids. One officer got out of his car and proceeded on foot.  I saw one of the boys running out from a yard and yelled at him, the officer came over and put the kid on the ground and arrested him.  The other boy ran out of a yard a few houses down starting to run up Riverview towards Coppet.  I rollerbladed over with the dog on leash and yelled at him. The boy stopped running and I told him to head towards the officer, and he did so.

Both boys were arrested.  The apparently walked from the movie theatre to the neighborhood.  I asked the officer, later on, if the kids lived in the neighborhood.  He stated that they lived across town and had no reason for being in our neighborhood.  He released the kids to their parents.
