North Attleborough Historical Society

Third Grade Visitation Program

In the 1970s, Dorothy Rice started the 3rd Grade Visitation Program, which continues to this day. The society hosts over 300 school children from North Attleboro, Plainville and Attleboro each year. The children spend a day at the school, re-enacting a typical day for a child of the 1800s. The children also visit the Garrison House and learn of the early history of North Attleborough through the artifacts in the house. They especially enjoy making griddle cookies in the fire place in the keeping room of the Garrison House.
