September Meeting
On Monday, September 17th at 7:30 PM at the Little Red Schoolhouse, Reinhard Wohlgemuth, of the Rhode Island Postcard Society, will present "A Good Time was Had By All...A Postcard View of the East Providence Amusement Parks". Wohlgemuth will lead us on a visit to the four amusement parks that once called East Providence home. How many can you name?
Thank You
Thanks to Ray Lanpher for the donation and installation of a new projection screen. The technology of today is such that our slide projector and smaller screen are less and less used. DLP projectors utilize larger screens. The Society is now pursuing the projection system with Audio Concepts.
Thanks also to Cheryl Kummer and family who kept the Gulski Garden vibrant and well-watered all summer. Now, after a few years of continued growth, the garden is a wonderful focal point to our property during the warmer months.
Service Award
At our annual meeting last May, the William and Dorothy Rice Award for Service to the Historical Society was presented to Cheryl Kummer and to Marilyn McDeed. It is a very small gesture to recognize all of their tireless efforts to the welfare of the Society. Thank you both very much.
Yard Sale
Our Fall Yard Sale will be held on Saturday, September 8 from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Setup begins at 8:00 AM on the grounds of the Little Red Schoolhouse. Early buyers usually arrive soon afterward. Spaces are available for $15.00. You provide your own tables and merchandise. You need not be a member to set up so please let your friends and neighbors know about this event. They may want to take advantage of our very visible location. Call Bob Lanpher at 695-6649 for space reservations. We are not looking for donations. There will be no Society table at this sale. We are looking for your help however. Let Bob know if you are available.
Holiday Fair
The annual holiday fair is scheduled for November 18, 2007. Cochairs are Heather DeMelia and Sandi Burns. They are looking for donations of gift certificates or gift baskets for the raffle tale, knitted items, new and good used jewelry, craft items, and books and videos as well as workers to man tables the day of the fair and help with the clean up. The request for baked goods will come in November but please be looking over your garden and start your planning. Please call Heather at 508-643-2674 or Sandi at 508-695-7160 if you would like to volunteer towards the raffle table or give of your time. Monetary donations towards raffle items or gift certificates are also appreciated. Funds realized from the fair are directed towards the upkeep of the Garrison House and the schoolhouse.
School Visitations
The trip to the Little Red Schoolhouse is a fond memory of most who attended third grade in North Attleborough or Plainville. On three Tuesdays and two Thursdays during October, Plainville students will visit once again. North Attleborough will be here in the spring.

Dear Members,
Greetings and happy late summer/early fall to all. It almost seems as if our Society also operates under four seasons. The Fall brings the return of speakers, yard sales, and the Plainville school program. Thanksgiving to Christmas sees our properties so beautifully decorated, and the Spring has our May breakfast, yard sales and the North Attleborough school program. The fourth season would be summer when all is quiet on the property, which, in some respects, is unfortunate. It is during the growing months that the property comes alive, and many do not have the opportunity to appreciate this beauty. Primarily due to the efforts of Cheryl Kummer, the Gulski Garden is quickly becoming a can't-miss sight in North Attleborough. Now the Trustees are working on a proposal to further enhance the beauty of this property. More information will be coming.
Please join us for one of the yard sales and for the September 17th program. How many of the four amusement parks from East Providence are you able to name? And please always have our holiday fair in your planning.
