New park - Good Idea and/or Poor Planning?

Posted in: Promontory Pointe

I do see your point but do not see how parking on Balmoral Place and walking across what has already been stated in these threads to be a street with high traffic and speeding motorists  is a good ideas. Especially since there is no cross walk or speed bump. I would then ask what would you prefer cars on the street, or a speed bump with a cross walk?

In response to the previous entries, additional parking spaces for the rec area have been planned near the sport court, but is part of a future phase of our recreation area development.  Our HOA cannot afford to do all that we want in one year due to limited funds.  We currently need to pay for the large expense of all that we have done for the rec area this year.

Homeowners who are parking on the street near the park certainly need to be considerate of the homes they are parking in front of.  From my observations, the first weekend the park was open drew a very large turnout which created the need to park in front of nearby homes.   But now the park use is a steady smaller crowd who are parking in front of the park.

Regarding speeding near the park, I have witnessed it too.  It is a shame that people not only speed through our neighborhoods where children could be playing, but also don't think to slow down near a park.  The Board of Directors has discussed requesting speed humps from the City to slow people down in front of the park where children are playing.  "Children at Play" signs would also be nice.  The City requires a petition of homowners near the affected area be submitted to show homeowners support the speed hump.  (info is at the City Council's website).  Contacting our City Councilman Rowe is an excellent idea too.

Sincerely,

Julie Agena

The main entrance to the park area is off of Catlin Court at the semi cul-de-sac where the street turns. Until our permanent parking lot is built (which will be several years away) homeowners should park on Catlin Court to the extent possible and walk down into the park / playground area. However, there is no prohibition for parking on Promontory Circle.
