New park - Good Idea and/or Poor Planning?

I am not sure whose idea it was to put the new park on a major street through our subdivision.  People travel excessive speeds down Promontory Circle.  Now, with the addition of the new park (and it isn't officially open yet) folks are parking on both sides of the street (and on the lawns) combine that with the number of children that will be drawn to this park - it is only a matter of time before we start seeing accidents.  What are the HOA's plan to protect our children  from unnecessary accidents?  Where will the designated parking be so that parents can safely park their vehicles?

I thought that this park was going to be a "value add" to this subdivision - perhaps even help with resale, drawing new families to our neighborhood.   I hope those new prospects don't drive down Promontory Circle when it looks like a parking lot.  Imagine working all day -  looking foward to coming home to your well landscaped yard, only to see that view blocked by 2 or 3 cars actually parked ON your well landscaped yard.  Is this the kind of image we want to create for those new prospects?

I am not sure if a parking lot was planned or not, but a park without a parking lot to accommodate the vehicles, is a disaster waiting to happen.

Parking on the main street should prohibited and a parking lot should be constructed behind the park or residents should be instructed to walk to the park.

It is hard to please everyone. And the purchase of the lots was done quite some time ago, as there was no other available area for us to purchase for the park development. I personally am just glad to see it come to fruition. As our other park was falling apart, and in need of maintenance. While I certainly can see your concern, I would recommend that you contact the city if you are concerned for the safety of children.  I personally have done that as well as contacted Louis Rowes office to monitor our area as motorist are not only speeding on Promontory Circle but also on Wilderness Oak.

Also I certainly do sympathize with people parking in front of your house, however, I am there 5-7 times a week and have never seen anyone parked in anyone elses lawn. The park is for everyone in our collective neighborhoods, not just people in walking distance, so therefore there will be cars.  It would be unsafe for the people of the Reserve or the Heights to be expected to "walk" across Wilderness Oak so that cars were not on Promontory Circle.

As long as the cars are parked in the direction of flowing traffic and are not on the curb, they are not doing anything wrong. Sorry to hear the park is an inconvenience to you, I know the committee worked long and hard on this and got feedback from many of our community members.
