Kids on the street

Posted in: Jefferson Cort

I just took the survey and really didn't have much room to comment on the golf-carts, etc. I really have no objection to the kids driving these vehicles and am willing to watch for other peoples' children...But that said, most of the young drivers are rude, inconsiderate, and just down-right reckless on our street. Not a day goes by without some child screaming past my house at better than 50-60 MPH. I really object to this type of behavior and the noise. Someone's child is going to be hurt very badly because a wreck is bound to occur sooner or later and those speeds don't lend themselves to ''fender benders''. I really think the children should be taught that their driving on the streets is a priveledge and not a right and if they persist, I will vote to have our sheriff's dept. police the streets. And some of our residents do the same thing in their full-size vehicles.

golf carts

I tend to agree with Don. The golf carts go so slow that they don't create much of a concern. There is also not a lot of traffic in the subdivision. The kids on the ATV's and dirt bikes on the other hand drive like mad men through the area. Somebody will eventually get killed. We have a golf cart and I never let my children drive it without me. The golf cart only goes about 20 miles per hour. I had a go cart when I was a kid and the police were tolerant of it. The golf carts deon't make any noise or disturb anyone. The motorized vehicles are loud and fast. i say keep the golf carts and minimize the gas powered vehicles. i have no prolbem with the kids driving in the street to get to the muddy area of the subdivision. but don't zoom up and down the street repeatedly.

Totally Agree

I totally agree. It is a priviledge but the children disrespect it at times. Going through someone else's yard, speeding, yelling, etc. Most would not do this in front of their parents.
