Zoning

The zoning violation at 1819 Maryland Avenue had its appeal denied on 2/25/03

There are two demolition requests. The site reviews will be on March 29, 2003 at 10am for 1090 McAllister and March 29, 2003 at 11am for 461 S. 22nd St.

Planning

At the NEAC Planning Commission meetings, discussions will begin about the update of the Near East Area Plan section by section. Steve McClary, Administrator, Planning Division will guide us through the process. It is estimated this process will take 8-12 months. The public is invited to attend but not to comment at this time. Public comment will be held at a later date.

Annoucements

MORPC is holding an open house for the review of its Transporation Improvement Plan. The plan can also be viewed at www.morpc.org. Public Comment will be taken at the office until April 28th.

Children's Hospital is coordinating a grassroots effort to protest the cuts in Medcaid which would affect insurance for children. For more information call 722-3063.

Chair Bailey sent a letter to Mayor Coleman noting the improvements and attention Northland mall has recently had. She called attention to a similiar commercial area-Mt. Vernon Plaza in the Near East side and that it is just as important to the residents of the Near East as Northland is to its residents.

A letter was sent by Councilman Sensenbrenner for support from the Commission to hire a consultant on behalf of the neibhorhoods for the I-70/I-71 project. The consultant would primarily be involved in the landscaping and esthetics of the project. The Commission voted to support Councilmen Sensenbrenner.

Election information will be available the first Monday in April. Elections will be held on June 7th. More information to come.
