NEAC May General Meeting

Zoning

A request from Urban Growth Corporation to demolish 325 Taylor Avenue was approved.

A request for the demolition of the garage at 1409 Hildreth was approved since the garage is hazardous beyond repair.

NEAC also supported a demolition request for the vacant multi family dwelling that are part of the Taylor Homes Project. The dwellings are between Emerald and Maryland on the east side of the street. A site hearing was previously held in February.

A vote for 1049 E. Long Street will be taken at the May 20th Zoning Meeting. The request is for a variance for a driveway.

The next meeting is May 20th, 6:30pm at the 12th Precinct Neighborhood Policing Center.

Planning

Tony English from Youth Build presented plans for the homes on Rich Street they are planning to build. Plans were previously presented for the home but historic guidelines prompted changes. Teh plans were approved with the following conditions:
-4 ft. between windows
-48'-56' long windows
-30' wide windows
-No individual panes on the windows
-Porch elevation should be similiar to houses on the street, 12in. to 2 feet of the adjacent porch elevation
-Solid posts on the front porch

Also approved was a proposal to buy 1379 Mt. Vernon Ave., currently a vacant lot. The church owns the parcels on either side of this lot. The lot is owned by the City Land Bank. The lots were previously planned to be a parking lot, after speaking with the Planning Committee, the church has changed its plans and the land will be a gateway and greenspace for the church. A waiver for the shortage of parking will be applied for.
At the next planning meeting, CHP will present preliminary plans for the model house they will build at 484 Linwood Avenue. This house will be used as the model for their homeownership program.

The Near East Plan Update will also continue.

Planning Committee will be on May 15th at 6:30pm at the Health Department Rm. 119-C.
