AHC Summer Camp in Full Swing: Now in its 8th year, AHC?’s summer program provides both fun adventures and learning experiences for the children and teens that live at our rental properties. This year, more than 100 youngsters are enjoying the five-week camp, which is operated by AHC?’s Resident Services. The camp includes weekly visits to swimming pools, field trips to local landmarks like Great Falls and the National Zoo, and cultural outings to museums and dance workshops. The program also works with the Arlington County library to promote reading skills. The camp is funded through individual donations, corporate contributions, and foundation and government grants.
New Nauck Project Wins Low-Interest Financing: AHC?’s newest condominium project has won Virginia Housing Development Authority (VHDA) funds that provide first-trust mortgages with a 4.5 to 5.0 percent interest rate. The affordable apartments are designed for first-time homebuyers with incomes below 80 percent of Arlington?’s median income ($75,600 for a family of four). The project, located at 2814 South 17th Street, will include 10 units with two and three bedrooms. Construction is expected to start mid-fall; sales will begin in January 2008.

The Frederick is Nearing Completion: AHC will move its offices to The Frederick in September. The brand new building, which will provide 108 affordable apartments, is located in the heart of the historic Courthouse neighborhood and is within walking distance of the metro. The complex will include several amenities, including a large community center serving residents of The Frederick as well as Woodbury Park. New CFC Number: AHC has a new Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) number ?– 77198. This is the number federal employees can designate if they would like to donate to AHC during the annual CFC drive, which runs September 1 ?– December 15, 2007. All contributions are used to support AHC?’s Resident Services program.
Homeownership Offers New Loan Option: AHC is offering a new home loan program for moderate-income borrowers who do not qualify for conventional loan products. In partnership with Neighborhood Housing Services of America, AHC is able to offer an affordable alternative to more expensive and riskier loan products used by ?“sub-prime?” lenders.
