Shut GPC down.
Any food products that include corn derivitaves will go up in cost. Employment of local people will drop by 1000+. The economy of Muscatine will continue to decline.
Now who do you have to blame? Yourself, for being so damn ignorant. Along with Hon, this is the largest industry you have here. Shut it down, and then complain in five years about the condition.

There is no sense in this issue, but let the facts come out. GPC is and has hurt Muscatine and its people more than any other employer. They are greedy, don't care about anyone but themselves, and demand many peons defend them or else. The pollution is so bad that they moved the salaried people to the old Bandag on the other side of town so they could at least have some clean cars to drive home.
How vindictive will GPC get. At the CLAM meeting I talked with some people that asked me if I would join, as they said they cannot because they were told if they joined CLAM they would immediately loose their job. When I pointed out the fact that CLAM isn't a part of the law suit, their response was it doesn't matter as anyone that wants clean air will be punished by not only GPC, but the City employees, Chamber of Commerce and other people who are in receipt of GPC influence money.
You seem to be having problems with the truth. On April 29th you posted "Does anyone know when the CLAM meeting is and where? I would like to go to it and also want to join CLAM." Now you are claiming that some unknown-hinted-that-they-may-be-gpcemployees asked to have you to be their voice as they could lose their jobs if they were part of clam. If they are so "greedy", why would they care that much about their salaried employees? There certainly is no profit in it. I imagine it cost quite a chunk to rehab the Bandag center. I believe they did it for other reasons.

Did you ask "them", who it was that told them they would lose their jobs? I mean, name some names. Who are the people threatening these other nameless people? You know what I think? I think it is more probable that you made this up. Who would want their name divulged here if their job was in jeopardy? Be reasonable in your demands for once. |

Also, what makes you think you can have a manufacturing facility without waste (pollution, if you want to call it). I challenge you to show me that ADM is any cleaner. You'll lose that challenge. Idiot! Which ADM plant is dirtier? I'm pretty sure there are some that aren't. |
