Wondered if anyone has driven out on Mulberry past the site of the new movie theaters.  I had hoped that the company might choose to leave all of the wonderful old oak trees, as they were on the edges of the property.  But it seems all of the trees are now leveled.  It's sad to lose them  and have them replaced by what looks like fake palm trees and Pink Flamingos in the drawings we've seen so far.

If that happened, it's a damn shame.   At the risk of being called a socialist or a communist, I'm going to say I think the government should do some regulating of tree cutting.

There are places where if you cut down a tree you have to plant two others.   Generally in the same area.  I don't think it's a bad idea.   Of course you would need regulations of species, quality, size and maintenance which would get you even closer to socialism and scare the crap out of some here.

It would give developers pause before they just clear cut the area.  And it would give the road builders some reason to be careful what route the pick.

Where is this exactly. Once in a blue moon we take in a film but the quad cities or Coralville is a ways to go. We hate to see trees go for any reason much less for progress.
