Re:  The list.  It's amazing that she apparently can't come up with any examples of the countless wastes of money that could be trimmed to make her list possible, all while lowering taxes.  It's so simple, yet so difficult for one with a closed mind.

Fox, I can come up with a list of examples of wastes of money, but it isn't enough to balance the budget and allow lowering of taxes.

If it is so simple, give us the list.   My mind is open to consider it.

Oh no, you need to do your own homework young lady.  I'm sure you researched your own list and made an educated estimate of how much more you expect all of us to pay to keep the welfare moms in cable TV and cell phones.........or perhaps you didn't and are just making more liberal playbook points.  You can certainly do the same research on cuts.  I think you'll be surprised to find how simple this really is.

Have at it, Hoss.

Malodery:  You can't be serious.

Look, what would your response be if you found out your kid was throwing half of his allowance in the toilet each week but he came to you with a request for an increase in allowance?  Wouldn't you demand he stop the waste before contemplating any increase in allowance?  Most sane people would.

In any event, the Obumbler ignored the conclusions and recommendations of his own "debt commission".  So don't ask for more "lists" of waste recommendations.

And I must say, lack of information is not the problem. Today, government waste
investigations and recommendations can be found in hundreds of reports, such
as:

  • -Studies published by the U.S. Government
    Accountability Office (GAO),[1]
  • -The Congressional Budget Office's Budget Options book,
  • -Inspector general reports of each agency,
  • -Government Performance and Results Act reports of each agency,
  • -The White House's Program Assessment Rating Tool (PART) program reviews,
    and
  • -The Senate Governmental Affairs Committee's 2001 Government at the
    Brink
    reports.

Most are done more efficiently on a nation-wide basis, but fine, have the states do them.

It'll cost more and it still requires tax revenue.

It has not been shown that "many" are done more efficiently on a nationwide basis.  Many can and should be done by the states according to our national constitution.   And I like the idea of letting the states decide whether they really need to be done or not.  If the states decide that they are not cost effective, it will save us a lot.

We used to get along just fine with a lot less federal interference.

Do you disagree that life has gotten more complicated?

Tell me which functions on my list should be assigned to the states and which left to the individual.

The feds should be only concerned with protecting the citizens of this country and enemies foreign and domestic.  They also have some responsibility in the area of coordinating some of the infrastructure.  They also are responsible for treating with foreign entities.

But the states can and should handle most of the rest.  That was the intent of the founding fathers.   The constitution was written to protect the individual citizens and the states from a centralized government overstepping it's authorized powers.

The courts are assigned that task and have done it for the most part.

There are always new problems to litigate as our country changes and becomes more complicated.
