Strange, when I googled "Numbskull" on your behalf, 9 of the first 10 responses were spelled as one word and given as correct spelling.  In fact, even the spell check on this very forum offers the same three spellings, as do many other cyber dictionaries.

Wait....I know what happened.  You were borrowing Mobaydave's computer again, and his google is all folked up.  Right?  Or you're just a bad liar.  One or the other.

You'll notice free online dictionary is the third dictionary link down and provides the only correct spelling if the word. Both my on line spell-checks found this error.

The first three sources I hit on google just now, Ask.com, merriamwebster.com, and wordnik.com, all listed "numbskull" as a variant of "numskull" and as on of three spellings used commonly.  You know, kind of like TruePatriot is a variant of nitwit.
