I am curious about the lack of attention given by the news media to the absence of our President in the disaster areas. Given the widespead and deadly nature of the storms, and the hundreds who are dead or missing, it would seem that he might get the same treatment from the press as President Bush suffered. As I recall, Bush was labeled a "racist", and worse, because he did not physically visit the area for several days. Mr. Obama has been enjoying a trip to London, lunching with Kate and Wills, dinner with the queen, and no doubt much shopping by the Mrs. No sign of him anywhere near Joplin. Where's the hue and cry of "racism"? Where's the instant criticism of his handling of the disasters? Where are the scathing reports from England while he dines with the royals?
I'm not saying that his presence would make any difference in the actual recovery efforts, but there does seem to yet again be a bit of a double standard on display. Maybe everyone has forgotten his visit to Alabama. It did come on the eve to his killing of OBL. I think he's planning on visiting Joplin Mo. today. |

"I think he's planning on visiting Joplin, Mo today." According to credible news sources his visit is scheduled for Sunday. Still photo-ops to stage first. |
