We still need jobs in Iowa, and especially in Muscatine.  Lets hope they some day arrive.  The one thing we need is good paying jobs, will we get them?

It's difficult to add jobs in Muscatine because we are a non-attainmaent area which means we cannot add any more toxic emmisions.   So manufacturing jobs are out.

I don't see any proof of your "claims", mallcontent. If you want to impress everyone with the given subject matters, you should at least learn how to spell "attainment" and "emissions"! (SilentWink ) Do you even know what they mean? I venture not. Seems you have fallen into the davieboy trap.

Manufacturing jobs are NOT out. Adding jobs does not equate to adding toxic emissions. Common sense.

JOBS ARE OUT.  I like the expression "show me proof" response is just about as bad as when the MUSCATINE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE stated Muscatine's pollution came from the State of Ohio at a DNR meeting.

Muscatine will not be getting new jobs for several reason's:

MPW and GPC are dumping enough SO2 into our air that Muscatine is No. 8 in the USA in SO2 pollution.  If you want proof, go to a air pollution meeting at the Non-Profit center next Monday at 7:oo P.M.

Reason Two:  If for some slight chance Muscatine Would get a new manufacturer wanting to locate here, they would be stopped by the establishment.   The Development Corporation has publically stated for years they are only interested in working with existing Companies in an attempt to get them to expand.   As a Republican, I don't want Muscatine to even consider new jobs as this could upset the existing pay scale.   GPC helped maintain low pay schedule by having the lock out and then replacing the employees with TEMP workers at $10.00 - $13.00 per hour less.  If a Good paying Company would want to locate here, they would receive at best opposition.

GPC, Carver Jr., Chamber spent lots of money to make sure Braindead, Lofgren, and others got elected in order to make sure the Pollution Issue, new job issue, never received any forward movement.

Simply Stated there are two absolutely predictable things happening in Muscatine. No new good paying jobs, and pollution is here to stay.   Please, devote your comments to making this a untrue statement and make Muscatine Grow, and lets get out of Pollution.   This, of course means changing a State Senator, State Representative, Mayor, Alderman, MPW Board, and the Republican Party Efforts, as all of these presently elected people are Republicans.

Your logic escapes me.  Apparently all these "bad" things happened under a Democrat legislature and Governorship over the last 8 years!  The citizens decided to change that in the House and Governors' office last November.  Now, after 2 1/2 months you decide the voters were wrong?  And want to go back to the regime under which your fantasy world occured?  I'd say you have a problem with reality.
