"The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even one term,..."

Good evening all,

True'er words were never spoken. By nearly every politician's admission- incumbants as well, our government has taken us in the wrong direction by that both Republicans and Democrats. My husband thinks the "Other shoe may well drop" within 14 months. In all my years of economic pros' I have been taught..... that without jobs this economy will continue to falter. It will be an arduous task to say the least, for the next administration to try and halt the radical "trade-a-way our jobs for corporate gain." in history, while trying to rebuild our infrastructure and bring back some of those jobs and create new ones. Proof positive is that unfortunately for all of us, we lost another 3/4 of a million jobs since Jan. That being based on unemployment reporting, with those being dropped from the rolls(no longer eligible) the figure is more than likely over a million and growing higher every week. An eight year total of just above 10 million GOOD FAMILY SUPPORTING jobs. Along with a tripling of  foriegn VISA workers and a massive reduction in the educating of our own children and future high tech. skilled workers. If The Bush administration couldn't stop this massive exodus, we must not expect the next to do it any time soon. It must first be STOPPED before we can turn that around.

Looking ahead, the writing is on the wall for a slow recovery if we even see one within the next 24 months. I personally think McCain should be happy that it isn't his mess to deal with.  And, Obama should be quaking in his shoes, he has a tremendous boggy mess to cross with an entire nation on his back. And, as one poster put it here, "they will probably be blaming Bush for years to come." I can only say, "If the shoe fits." He should wear it. However, unless he signs anything else to hurt this economic implosion, we can stop blaming and move on to repairing. To his credit, I must admit that George Bush has been a strong military leader like it or not, we have not had another 9-11..... though we feel less safe than before the Iraq mess. That can be a credit to EVERYONE perhaps, but while we lay blame at the feet of our leaders we must also give credit where it's warranted. George Bush' legacy will be a tough one to define.

We were not fans of eihter candidate, thus were left with a write-in or had to skip that selection. My husband nor I watched the election though were not surprised by the results. Being an advocate of term limits and amending (if not abolishing) the electoral college, we once again saw that the disparity of that antiquated system has reared it's ugly head. How a candidate can get barely half the popular count (vote of the people) and take 2/3 of the delegation or even get less of the people's vote and still win the office, does clearly indicate it's senselessness. Yes we understand that under the recount principle, the entire nation would have to be recounted otherwise. But so....., If the election is run as they should be run, that wouldn't be necessary to start with. But all in all, there is a new administration on the horizon. One with a historic tint and based upon what I have had to spend to survive, have seen, read, and heard over these many months, the man at the center of this momentous turn of history, couldn't be more challenged and perhaps capable of meeting that challenge. All we need do is give him the same chance we gave any of his 43 predecessors. If he fails to offer the better result, then he too will have the blame(s) rest at his feet, and will have least of our respect as now does George Bush. It saddens me that in spite of the integrity the highest office in the land demands, we have to go as far back as Harry Truman to be able to recognize what that actually means. Not since Truman has ANY president, other than perhaps Jimmy Carter, not filled our history books with scandal and suspicions unworthy of the depth of integrity and respect the Oval Office DEMANDS. Let's pray for a change in that way also.

God Bless.
