Morning Max,

To everyone now ready to kick  puppies over the inclusion of Sen. McCain's own admission to computer "illiteracy" in that list of pros and cons of both candidates, I apologize. But perhaps it would help to finally cool this super heated steam by reading the direct and pointed quotes by Sen. McCain from July and Sept. In July, Mac said that "I am learning how to use a computerI use a Blackberry, (a person so debilitated could never use a Blackberry) and still, (Very important part here) I just never felt the need, I do read emails." I have always relied on phones and direct communication." In Sept, he again said, "I am learning."  Not once did this respected man state that he was so disabled(well within humility could, and surely would have) and just like my own husband who used a typewriter, tele-type, industrial keyboards and multitudes of other push button machines, he hated the idea of moving into the 21st century. Even before arthritis took his dexterity and painless fluid mobility, he refused to touch a computer. No folks, Sen McCain is another like my husband. He just hasn't "felt the need."  But please understand, aside of those right or left assertions, not once did "Mac" use such an idiotic excuse as  POW injuries, when through countless thousands of videos and photos, it is or should be abundantly clear that "Mac" simply is not so disabled. He recognizes that such a claim NOW, would look overtly contrived. Karl Rove and Fox news have been responsible for fostering the false notion that there is some connection between a tortured POW past and technological indifference. Claims the McCain machine will not endorse.

The larger point of the issue... McCain himself started, is that (much to his credit) the leader of the free world should be as skilled in modern tech. as even are the rest of the world's leaders. "Mac" HAS recognized that fact and since making his "non tech" comment, gone the right direction. A feather for his cap should be offered. The point/ pro/con list can now be cleared of that one. "Mac" can use a Mac. They should regret that McCain ever brought it up.

Please stop attacking each other over it.

God bless.

Gee, was this directed at me?  All I did on this thread was point out how ridiculous it is for that Chosen fellow to be throwing around the "L" word when with every post (now sadly numbering in the thousands) he is the poster child for the word.

Also, I don't think you can determine what anyone does or does not attack someone over on this board.  Something about that freedom of speech thing...........

I do not expect the POTUS to be required to operate ANY computer - we hire a plethora of assistants to handle that kind of work, regardless if someone can or cannot operate any kind of equipment. For Istreat to mention that he obviously is not qualified to be POTUS because he is "computer illiterate" is at best foolhardy.

Now on the the endorsement from Powell. How soon will the campaign ad appear with CP before the UN "endorsing" the invasion of Iraq? NObama has used his aversion to the Iraq War from day one of his campaign, so how does he explain this revolting development. If the Iraq War can be laid at any one person's doorstep, that person is Colin Powell. He is the one who described how Iraq had WMD's and would use them on the US and others. Popular opinion is that there were NO WMD's - so CP has a lot of credibility - right?
