Interesting Races:  Hahn vs, Savage  Hahn has been there a long time.  Never really has supported anything, but always voted no or what Iowans For Tax relief told him to vote. I have been told because he never does anything his nickname in Des Moines is mossback.   Savage is new, very intelligent and appears to be willing to work for Muscatine.  The question would be how well and quickly could she be received by other Senators in order to accomplish something for Muscatine.  One tremendous advantage is she would be in the majority side, which means she could accomplish something.  Hahn still hasn't been accepted.

Reichert vs. Howard: Not even a hesitation, its Reichert.  Educated, intelligent, and has proven he can get things done.  Howard even told half truths in his ads.  Saved 5 million at city hall, pure  bull, they floated a General Obligation Bond, which made the taxpayers obligated for a long time to higher expenses.  Voted to give $4,000.00 of taxpayer money to hire a lobbiest for GPC to delay their having to correct serious pollution and called it minuscule.  Spending stupidly to give the council a huge salary raise and again calling it minuscule.  Please keep him away from any level of state or federal spending, and get him off the City Council.  Like one of our local companies say "return him to the community" or let him "pursue other interests" ie. fire him.

Sheriff: White, Ryan, Wade the Republican machine can't even make up their own mind. Republican Votes divided by 2, Democrat vote for White.  He's in, and qualified.

Kelly vs. Keller:  Kelly is an incumbent and I have no complaints on her four year work record.  Keller needs to find himself before he tries to represent me.

I say we dump reichert, i asked him a simple question via email, with NO response, my wife called him as she knows him personally. he was to call her back, that was many weeks ago, still waiting for the answer to my question. my question was simple, it was about the smoking ban and what right do our elected officials have to tell us what we can do inside of our own buisiness' and buildings. he took the democrat approach and blew the question off. in my email i stated he had to earn my vote, and telling me his stance would have done that.

Interesting that you don't even mention Wade in your post, Opinionated. Must be a freudian thing. Having said that, Wade is just spoiling the system. The fair fighting was done in the primary; he should have left it it that. It shows a little disrespect for the primary system. Now, all he will do is split the vote.

As for White; long time officer. Never a detective, never a drug task force officer; always in/over patrol division and tethered to jail. Always been a patrol officer. Even left law enforcement to work at Proctor and Gamble once, then again to sell insurance. Ran unsuccessfully for sheriff in Louisa County before. Has worked for Louisa County, Columbus Jct., Nichols, Conesville, Tiffin, University Heights, Muscatine County. All as a patrol officer. Honorable; but wavy connectivity. Good funding seeker. Left Muscatine County employment once already.

Ryan; long time officer. Patrol division, investigative division/drug task force coordinator. Good funding seeker. Command officer. More well-rounded experience. Attended Mt. Mercy college. Stayed with Muscatine County his whole career; dedicated to the county. His kind of connections usually take one to a federal agency; but he has stayed the course in Muscatine County.

Reichert- out!

Hahn- a farmer politician. That's where his loyalties lie. Done an ok and honorable job.

Savage- a small business owner. Remains to prove herself.

Don't know Howard, but his city council service has been a little corny, but honorable.

Interesting that there seems to be so little interest in local politics. THAT is where you and I can make a difference in out day to day lives and it suprises me the number of folks that dont seem to pay it much attention. Here is my picks. Agree of disagree--your choice--but I have taken the time to talk to them.

Ryan for sheriff. Hes a good guy(not a "good ol boy" as some like to say). Talked to several of his collegues and subordinates. All that I talked to agree that he is the best of the three picks. I also talked to CJ himself and he seems to have  what it takes to bring the office together.

White is not a bad guy, just not the better of the three picks. Wade is NOT his father and is NOT a good candidate. He needs to stick to mowing grass. He has 3 years experience as a Deputy Sheriff, NOt the 6 he says. Sorry Wade but being a non paid possee member just does not count as real experience. Franklly he is arrogant.

Kass Kelly has done a great job on the BoS. She deserves to be re-elected. Mr. Keller needs to clean up his own finances before he tries to manage the Counties money. Take a look at Iowa Courts On Line and you will see he has several problems with his finances. Sorry for his bad luck but we need someone that can manage money, not someone that has problems of his own. Hope no one takes this as mudslinging but only fact.

Savage is such a flaming liberal that there is NO way I could cast a vote for her.Nice lady but I really dont want another liberal in there telling me how to live.

Dont know who is the bigger goofball between Reichert and Howard. Talked to both and neither give me a good feeling. Reichert because he is a liberal and cant think witout asking his dad(and those bow ties gotta go-he just cant pull them off like some folks-maybe in 10 years when he looks like a man and not a boy) and Howard because he is just too much of a -yes I am going to say it-conservitave. Or at least he tries to come off as Mr. ultra conservitive. It fells a bit fake when you tallk to him. Somehow he does not seem genuine.I dont think he has done anything wrong and he seems honorable--just  dont care for him but will probablly vote for him because he is better than Nathan.

Jim Hahn has done a good job all these years and is as honest as the day is long. He is  a farmer and as BB says he has done an honorable job.

Remember that several local elections in recent years have been won by one or two votes. Get out and vote for your candidate!!!!!!!!!!
