While the presidential campaign's back and forth was largely suspended on Thursday's anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, ABC World News used the occasion to run extended excerpts of Charles Gibson's exclusive interview with Republican vice presidential nominee Gov. Sarah Palin, her first televised interview since coming on the national stage. ABC ran 10 minutes of the interview at the top of its broadcast, and another 2 1/2 minutes at the close.

Reviews of her performance tend to be more negative than positive, with a focus on her labored efforts to deal with foreign policy questions. The AP says Palin "struggled with foreign policy, unable to describe President Bush's doctrine of pre-emptive strikes against threatening nations and acknowledging she's never met a foreign head of state."

I saw it. What I saw was not that much of a "bigdeal". And, she got through the interview without a single uh, uh, and otherwise sounding like a fool.

Of course the reviews of her were more negative than positive, this was the Mainstream Media doing the reviews! If she had recited one of NObama's speechs wor-for-word she would have been criticized. To be fair, Charlie did not say "Bush's doctrine of pre-emptive  strikes", he asked about the "Bush Doctrine". I"m sure many folks were unsure what he was defining as the "Bush Doctrine". I do know that she speaks more coherantly than Biden. He can't put a whole sentence together in an interview and unless he has the teleprompter there he can't put together a sentence then. As far as Palin having never met a foreign head of state - that will happen. She has had to work with Russian officials concerning fishing between the two countries since they ARE neighbors. The rest will happen in good time. McCain's mother is 96 yrs old - he comes from good genes so that heartbeat is a l-o-n-g time coming.
