Agree with you folks 100%.  BigBrother, in my day it was Geifman's bags.  We never ate a school lunch either......heard too many rumors about what was really in them.

The other part of this story that I dislike is that this woman and her family where not eligible for free or reduced meals at the school, but took advantage of free shoes and free school supplies. I don't think that is right. If you are not eligible by income to get free or reduced meals then you should not be allowed to get free supplies or shoes. That stuff should only be there to help the families that CAN'T afford it.

I am on a tight budget too. But I am not about to go get things free from a program that should only be giving them to the children that truly need them. I being a single mom of two and don't have a high paying job, but I am still my children's parent and we are not eligible for a lot of those things and yet I am able to manage my money so that I can take care of my children.

I wish I could afford the designer brands for myself let alone my children, but school is not the runway and shouldn't be treated as if it where one. I feel that schools should all have a uniform that kids must wear to school, so that there is no picking on others in class for not having designer labels. Make them all as one and they will be treated as one.

Just my opinion!!

I went to Goodwill and got a weeks worth of really nice clothes for each of my three kids for 45 bucks.  These are clothes they all really like, too.  Even my 14 year old.   Most of my kids clothes come from second hand stores, garage sales, or are hand me downs.  I just can't justify to myself paying for brand new clothes when I know two weeks from now the knees are going to be covered in grass stains and half of their shirts are going to have at least one unexplainable stain on them.

Also, if you go when you have a good amount of time to really look, you can find ALOT of brand names there, some with the tagsstill on them.
