What a mess!!!

Smelly muddy mess at the old boat launch site, not to mention all the tree limbs and such.

The fountain was up and runing in all it's beauty. Many kids of all ages playing and running aroung it last night. Yes some running out into the parkingl ot drive way. Heads up drivers if you are down that way, all hours.                                                      I hate the idea but maybe we need a fenced entry way similar to the ones for entering/exiting the bike path only not nearly as tall? Any thoughts out there?

The full moon was refecting in the glass like surface of the ol' Mississippi River flowing by. The tranquill reflection broken up only by the ocassional passing of pleasure crafts, their occupants enjoying the sweet cool summer evening.

Thought for a quick second someone had stolen the Clam Man but I was mistaken. It was standing there tall and proud in total darkness, spot lights not working again.                                                                                                                        Doesn't anyone notice these things? Maybe MPD on their bike patrols?

And talk about things missing, no lights on the Beckey bridge. The last time we watched the bridge lights it was the same old pattern but at least it was changing colors.                                                                                                                      What's up? Too much for MPW to handle, keeping them on and maybe mixing up the combinations a little? Sure hope it's working when we have out of state visitors next month after all we have told them about "OUR" river front and all.

Just a couple of thoughts that have come to mind in the last day or two.

Have a good night all. Sleep tight. and don't let the bed bugs bite.

I have not been down on the riverfront after dark for some time now but have heard that a lot of the time the lights are not on , on the bridge. Why bother going to the expense of buying lights, and putting them up if it is only gonna be a sometime thing. If it is too expensive to run them , that should have been thought about before hand.

As for the tree limbs etc in the park, hey they are still all around town. I know this all takes time but come on, it has been been a month now since the storm and I have seen some progress but there is still lots to go. They have picked up the trees in the alley behind us and in the block over from us, but ours are still laying there.  I thought the alleys were to be last, but guess not in this case. We hauled some ourselves but without a truck it gets pretty hard to haul all that in the trunk of a car.

I love seeing the fountain up and running now, and I am glad some of the kids are getting some use out of it. The riverfront looks pretty good most of the time but lets fix those things down there that need fixing.
