Just wondering how many are working to lose weight and get in better shape?  When I was much younger I had no problem with this but now that I am older and not as active, plus having added stress in my life, I have put on the pounds.  A lot of this had to do with drinking alcohol, beer, wine accompanied by a bag of chips or just food in general.

I believe I have come to grips with all that is in my life right now so I am activlely working toward a new me.  Has anyone else here had the same problem and are following some kind of diet plan?

I have found that "the older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight, because by then your body and your fat have gotten to be really good friends.

First of all good for you and Good Luck!

Mentally making this decision is always the first step.  If your mind isn't in it your body will never follow.

Start by making small changes. Eat the same food, but buy the low fat or fat free varieties.  Go with 90 -93% lean hamburger and lots of chicken.  If exercising is hard right now start out with a quick walk around the block and then go from there.  When that's too easy add another block to it.

I too am working to lose weight.  I love to go for walks and to TAE BO weight lifting is also good.  Added muscle helps to burn fat.

Again best of luck to you.

I also could stand to lose 15 to 20 lbs, at lest I think so but my Oncologist just throws a fit if I drop 5 lbs. That is strictly a no no, so I guess it will have to be a future thing. The first thing they do when I arrive is run me across the scales and then ask why if I have lost any weight.

I try to eat as many colors each day as possible plus the yogurt, a hand full of Brazil nuts, then on to the fruits & vegetables. It sure does not leave much room for the good stuff. Sometimes a lot can be put in a lettuce salad that makes it easier to get everything included.

Good luck and remember a belly full of fruits & veggies is better than a empty stomach.

Beings that you are off the beer would it be ok If I sneak in a couple because I have not had one in over a month ?

Thank you for your support.   You hit it right on the head where it involves your mind and body working together.  I can feel the difference because I have it in my head that this time it is going to work.  I realize that stress can destroy almost anything and I have had my share of it.  Through the advice of some friends from this site, I have learned to deal with reality and now feel confident I am on my way to a new me.  I really do know what needs to be done so I will not let stress enter my life.  As Kenn has said, it is not in my hands so I will let God take care of that which I have stressed over in the past.  I am glad to be back.
