The welfare state

Posted in: Muscatine

like the song almost said: "one out of three ain't bad".

regarding the other "two", i was just rattling your cage for the fun of it - i believe you know how that goes.

If you are referring to the Meatloaf song, he sang "two outta three ain't bad". In fact, two outta three is terrific in most cases!

"i want you, i need you, but there ain't no way i'm ever gonna love you".

in baseball, one out of three hits gets you to the hall of fame.

personally, i don't think there is anything wrong with searching the net, finding things you agree with, and posting them for what it's worth.

it is standing on the shoulders of those who have gone before us - an acceptable intellectual process. it is up to the individual to decide whether the info is BS or not.

criticizing the method does not necessarily discount the message.

Personally, neither do I. However, our friend, nedl, has made a big deal out of copying & pasting others words to bolster one's own opinion saying:

"It seems important to you to pick out and post examples by others who are of the same opinion as yourself, no matter how warped that may be. That is the difference between us. You can't form an original opinion without trying to impress us with "sources" of your "opinion".

I form my opinions without giving a rat's butt who agrees or not, including yourself."

and:

"Your "opinions" are merely someone else's thoughts and/or beliefs adopted as your own. The other guy did akk the work. You are only a "me too" guy."

and finally:

"My post was merely my opinion. All of your "sources" are merely someone else's opinion, no doubt adopted as your own."

So it's not necessarily about "searching the net, finding things you agree with, and posting them," it's about nedl's hypocrisy in believing that he's the only one who can do this with any credibility. For nedl it's, to use your words, "an acceptable intellectual process" but for all others it's a sign of laziness.

That's what's wrong with it.
