Thumbs Down If Obama wins oil prices will tumble. That's still not a good enough reason to elect that done nothing, been nowhere nobody.

It will be for a lot of people, but time will tell.

Gas prices in the US seem to be in line with those in the rest of the world, better than some, worse then others.  Germany $11.00 per gallon, France $9.00 per gallon, Portugal $8.00 per gallon, Venezuella,$2.00 per gallon.  Brazil fuels 13 million cars with Ethanol that is sugar based.  Gee if they can do it why can't we?

We've brought all of this on ourselves and have no one to blame except ourselves.  The US has not allowed the contsruction of a new refinery in over 30 years.  We beat up on anyoen who wants to build a nuclear power plant (80% of all electricity in France is nuclear generated) and the Greens and Democrat will not let the oil companies drill in Anwar, although the State of Alaska is in favor of it.

So look in the mirror and say "this is your fault" because it is, we should have started to fix this after that mess when Carter was President.  But, we never learn that history repeats itslef and we should learn from the past.

Also some of those Country's have included up to a 75% tax on gas. They have very little or no Federal or State tax on their gas because that is what the 75% tax is for. Now deduct the 75% tax from the pump price and you have cheap gas.

I agree that most Europenan countries tax gasoline at extraordinarily high rates as well as include such things as the Value Added Tax on top of other taxes.  But, that's where they get the money for universal health care, free education, and housing subsidies.  Nothing is for nothing and countries that have those things have to pay for them somehow.  Demarks income tax has an upper limit of 67% which is why many Danes have sought employment in other EU countires.  Socialism never works to anyone's advantage except the dead beats.
