I applaud Mike for deciding to continue his campaign. It is too bad that the Sheriff's race be held along party lines by way of the primary. Yes, many people, including my spouse, did not vote in the primary because they did not want to declare affiliation with one party or the other.

I have talked with Mr. Wade about the steroid issue. Some people don't understand. He was in high school at the time and at the time, steroids were a legally controlled substance that he had prescribed to him by a doctor. There was nothing illegal about that.

As far as him naming a cheif deputy before the election, the Code of Iowa that those opposed to Mike have mentioned is being taken out of context as it does not apply to the circumstance. Besides, if it was illegal, why didn't the three other Muscatine County Sheriff deputies in attendance at the forums arrest him on the spot?

I've know Mike for just a few years. I know him to be a dedicated, hard working man with a wonderful wife and family. He's out there on patrol. He's not sitting at a desk. He would be a wonderful working Sheriff of Muscatine County. He's not in it for fame or fortune, he sincerely desires to keep our county a safe place to live, work and raise a family.

What is it with you people if he decides to run as a write-in or independant? If you're so convinced that your candidate will win, why does this bother you?
